Location, Location, Location

Location has proven to be the most important factor in many different areas of life.  When a entrepreneur decides to open a new business, the first factors that he/she must consider is finding the right location.  When a new homebuyer is considering a new home purchase, he/she must consider the location of the property because that determines the school district, quality of public services, as well as the property tax costs.  Location is also one of the most important factors when it comes to the valley moments of life.  Consider the following questions as it relates to your choices in life:  When you find yourself in a dark place, where do you go?  When you don’t know what step to take, which direction do you move in?  When you feel broken, where do you place your faith?

When you feel so drained from dealing with your situation, your mind has a hard time with producing sound decisions.  This is the time where most people make matters worse by making choices that are in reaction to how bad they feel.  Have you ever said “I just want it to be over”, or “I just want to feel better”.  Shortly after going through my divorce, I felt like I was in such a dark place and in a desire to feel better, I decided to buy myself a new truck.  Nothing helps a depressed person like a new car payment that you can’t afford lol!  And it did the trick until the first bill came in the mail.   I found myself depressed and stressed financially.  This was a recipe for disaster.  Since I had no experience with this stage of life, I was unsure of where to go when I found myself in tis type of situation.  I decided to share this part of my life to hopefully help someone else.

I discovered that when you are in a dark place, you must go to God.  The amazing thing is that if you’re too weak or broken, all you have to do is call on his name and he will come to you.  He will often send someone that can bear witness to how he can restore you to an even better version of yourself prior to your storm.  I learned that when you don’t know what step to take, “STAND STILL” and see the salvation of the righteous.  Lastly, when you feel broken beyond repair, you must place your faith in God’s hands and leave it there.  The problem with the valley moments is that we can’t see what’s next.  The unforeseen beauty in this moment is that you don’t need to.  All you need to do is believe.  The question then becomes, “How long do I have to wait for things to get better”?  The answer is that “its up to you”.  Your situation does not determine your elevation!  However, where you place your faith does and if you place your faith in heavenly places, it becomes easier to untether yourself from earthly struggles.   Once I realized that God was waiting on me to believe, I never looked back.  He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that you could ever ask or think but you must believe.  Don’t allow the quicksand of the past to hold you captive for months or years, but instead, make the choice TODAY! AND DON”T LOOK BACK!

Be Blessed,

Patrick Hurd
