If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always gotten! I first heard this quote several years ago and the principle holds true to this very day.
A friend of mine has been with the same guy for nearly ten years and has complained for nine out of the ten years. At first, I didn’t want to interfere with her business but she caught me on a day that I felt inspired to shoot straight with her. I asked why she was wasting time complaining about the same thing for ten years. Did she expect him to change his behavior in year number eleven if she complained enough lol.
My advice was to fix the problem or stop complaining because she was only making herself feel worse by continuing to not take the appropriate action. Regardless of whether the issue is a toxic relationship, health issues, unhealthy habits, or stressful work environments, sometimes you just need to make a lifestyle change.
What I mean by that is you must choose to do what you know is the better choice for you regardless of whether the alternative seems to be more gratifying. What feels good “to you” may not be the best thing “for you”. When you recognize that the road that you are going down will not produce the results you desire, make the choice sooner rather than later to change your habits, re-evaluate your beliefs, or change the circle of people that you surround yourself with.
